Hester Creek Estate Winery

Hester Creek Estate Winery

Hester Creek Estate Winery is a lovely vineyard located in Oliver, BC that includes some of the oldest vineyards in the Golden Mile region. They produce quality wines from grapes grown in their vineyards that fully represent both the varietal and the unique aspects of the regional terroir.

The winery has a restaurant with gorgeous views that provides wine pairings and stunning Villas that you can spend a romantic getaway in. The views are of the vines, river and the mountains. I will definitely be back.

We had a lovely tasting here in the stunning tasting room where they have skilled staff that create a warm welcoming space and are well versed in the wines they showcase.

Chardonnay 2014

This lightly oaked chardonnay is complex with buttery, smoky and floral notes on the nose and in the glass butterscotch, citrus, a hint of tart cherry, smoke and vanilla with a lingering smooth finish. This wine will improve with age and once open get better and better as it breathes.

Selected Barrels Merlot 2014

This is a smooth representation of merlot that is a bit young and could use some aging. On the nose vanilla, plum and  cherry, in the glass tart cherry, cotton candy and a hint of sweetness and mocha.  I would cellar this one for at least two years.

Reserve Merlot 2013

This premium merlot has been aged in both American and French Oak before the best lots are selected to make this unique wine. It has blackberry, vanilla and cassis on the nose and a lovely mouthful of blackberry, pepper, vanilla, cigar and dark chocolate in the glass. It has good body and a long finish. Drink this decanted now or cellar for up to five years. Sample this with dark chocolate or pair it with a rich Fall stew.

Reserve Cabernet Franc 2013

This was my top pick from this tasting. Green pepper, vanilla and plum on the nose with plum, vanilla, pepper, cassis and cotton candy in the mouth. It had just the right amount of spice to be a great representation of this varietal. It is full bodied with rich tannins and a lengthy finish that can easily cellar for at least two years. It followed me home.

I look forward to a return visit and a wine pairing meal. For more information and directions to this winery please follow the link below.
